Tinwood Homes was founded in 2017 by Brian Kalmes, a lifelong craftsman with a passion for both construction and HVAC design. With a degree in Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, Brian began his career in the manufacturing industry before returning to the Twin Cities to join his family's HVAC business (Kalmes Mechanical). From 1999 to 2016, he gained hands-on experience in installation, service, project management, sales, and complex system design.

After nearly two decades in the industry, Brian launched Tinwood Homes with the goal of combining his expertise in HVAC systems with his love of custom home building and remodeling. Today, Tinwood Homes specializes in everything from basic HVAC installations to highly customized solutions, including:

• Multi-zone systems for comfort and energy efficiency

• In-floor heating & hydronic/boiler systems

• Heated garages

• Indoor air quality controls and zoning

Brian's approach is rooted in creativity, precision, and integrity. Every project is uniquely tailored to the client's home, ensuring that new or remodeled spaces feel like they were part of the original design. His eye for detail and problem-solving mindset allow him to overcome even the toughest architectural challenges.

Outside of work, Brian enjoys sports, Kpower yoga, traveling, and spending time with his three talented children and his fiancé, Nicole.
